SceniCorp Goes to Toronto for the NBA All-Star Game!

As part of NBA All-Star weekend’s festivities, Nike completely transformed a streetcar into the ultimate destination for first access to the newest footwear releases. SceniCorp’s challenge was to build out the interior of the street car in our Brooklyn shop so that it fit perfectly when installed hundreds of miles away in Toronto!

The streetcar is an all grey cable car with the words “Nike SNKRS XPRESS” plastered on the side in white and red letters alongside the classic Nike swish. The streetcar, which travels along Toronto’s Queen Street West, is fittingly dubbed “the ultimate sneaker destination,” by Nike.

Stepping onto to the SNKRS XPRESS is like entering a (high end) wooden spaceship. The interior walls and windows are lined with birch, rose gold and marble paneling while the whole ceiling is covered with mirrors.

Behind The Scenes

Each seat is numbered from one to 15 and named after a NBA player, and is accented with a different sneaker placed in a clear protective glass case. Outside of a few bumps and potholes, it’s easy to forget that you’re on a streetcar. Riders are encouraged to relax, enjoy the ride, and of course, stock up on the exclusive sneakers available on board, including the Horizon PRM Modern Made Jordans and the LeBron XIII Royalty sneakers.

Congratulations to Luis Pinto on his promotion to Carpenter! The NIKE Sneaker Express was his first job he worked on as a Carpenter. Luis has been working at SceniCorp since 2013, starting as a utility worker and then a Stage Hand. Originally from Ecuador, Luis takes pride in the quality of his work and the creative elements of his job. Starting at a young age, Luis “always loved woodwork” and gradually his career developed as a natural evolution of his passion for the craft.

Fitzroy Harris, Carpenter and Crew Chief says “Luis’ enthusiasm and eagerness to learn made him the perfect student” and a valuable member of SceniCorp’s team. During his free time Luis enjoys going to music shows or taking in a Mets game. His experience and attention to detail enable him to achieve the highest standard of work and enrichment which he brings to our clients’ projects.
